On Thursday, April 2, 2020, I convened a virtual meeting with religious and other community leaders to discuss the impact the ongoing COVID-19 crisis is having on our Ugandan community and how we can help those in need.
During the meeting, I acknowledged the efforts by individuals and organizations that had notified me about the outreach they had undertaken in this dire situation. Amongst others these included WOPI (Women of Purpose International) and the Waltham Islamic Society in collaboration with UMMATI FOUNDATION INC
Based on our discussions, we collectively agreed that UBCA should initiate to set up a task force committee that would also respond to help members of our community in need.
The task force will also seek out other volunteer professionals and advocates that can help sensitize our community to the ongoing pandemic and also refer members of the community to other organizations, agency and resources that can benefit them.

The responsibility of the task force is to mobilize donations in the form of funds, food and essential household supplies and distribute these items to those in need.
It was agreed that the Task Force will prioritize those in need in the following order:
- The sick people
- Senior Citizens
- Single Mothers
- Families with no income/Newcomers
- Single Fathers
- General need.
